Seraphia Staples, 36, of Kankakee, IL, died Thursday, March 21, 2013 at St. MaryÃ¢â‚¬â„¢s Hospital. Visitation will be Saturday, March 30, 2013 from 9:00 a .m until time of funeral services at 10:00 a.m. at New Vision Missionary Baptist Church, 194 N. Entrance, Kankakee, IL. Pastor Tom L. Ivy will officiate. Cremation rites will be accorded. Seraphia Staples was born October 15, 1976 in Kankakee, IL to Donna Staples. She graduated from Kankakee High School in 1995 and attended Kankakee Community College. She was employed by KCTC, and worked in healthcare. She was a member of New Vision Missionary Baptist Church where she sang in the choir, and was vice-president of the choir, and served as a pastorÃ¢â‚¬â„¢s aide and Sunday School Teacher. A lifetime resident of Kankakee, she will be remembered for her dedication to the work of the church, and for being a loving, caring and inspirational person. She leaves to cherish her memory, one daughter, Kiaira Staples of Kankakee, IL; three sons, Omarr Staples of Kankakee, IL, and twins, Isaiah and Jeremiah Staples of Chicago, IL; her father, Robert Washington of Kankakee, IL; the father who raised her, Frankie Lee (Rosie) Gray of Rantoul, IL; three sisters, Oriana Staples of Indianapolis, IN, Dalexia Staples of Jacksonville, FL and Tameka Bruce of Detroit, MI; five brothers and one sister-in-law, Orishi Staples of Jacksonville, NC, Darcy Washington of California, Brandon Washington of Key West, FL, Robert Washington Jr. of Little Rock, AR and Jimmy and Karen Smith of Chicago, IL; grandmother, Sarah Gray of Kankakee, IL; a favorite aunt, Jacqueline (John) Henley of Kankakee, IL, a close first cousin, Chantil Henley of Kankakee, IL and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her mother, a brother, Frankie Lee Gray Jr., grandparents, Daisy and Wesley Levy and grandfather, J. B. Gray.
