Ruth Austin
January 13, 1949 - November 19, 2021
Ruth Elizabeth Austin was born January 13, 1949 in Glendora, Mississippi to Ella Mae Hardy and Arnola Reed. As a child, Ruth was very curious busy and was given the affectionate nickname “Bunny” by her only sibling, Rebecca. Ruth and her family relocated to Chicago, IL where she went to school to learn the trade of being a data entry operator. She retired from United Airlines in 2007. Ruth loved baking (from scratch), traveling, shopping and spending time with family. She had a profound love of music and wasn’t ashamed to hit the floor when Marvin Gaye came on. Later in life, Ruth began a new chapter in her life and started developing a strong relationship with God. Her faith in God grew stronger and was unwavered. She truly trusted and believed in God’s promises and his Word, and when given the chance to talk about God, Ruth would hit the floor once again. Ruth, loving mother and adoring grandmother, passed away peacefully in her sleep on November 19, 2021, surrounded by her family. She leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Glenn, Darnette (Mack) and Torrence; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Fedro Williams; two nieces, Brenda Williams and Dr. Lesa Williams Graham (Anthony); two nephews, Fedro Williams Jr. and Anthony Williams, and a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Rebecca Williams. Ruth will live on forever in our hearts.
