Rosie Shegog was born November 2, 1948 in Osceola, Arkansas to Leslie and Carrie Lee House Green. She attended Phillips High School in Chicago, IL and did further studies at Harold Washington Business School. She was a member of Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church where she led Bible Study; helped with Vacation Bible School and Women’s Programs. Rosie was united in holy matrimony to Martin Shegog on August 13, 1976. She worked in the mailroom at Cigna and also had worked as a paraprofessional in Kankakee School District 111. She delighted in cooking, making friends, going to garage sales, thrift shopping and coupon collecting. She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Martin Shegog of Kankakee, IL; sons, Henry (Jasmine) Jones of Chicago, IL and D’Martin Shegog of Kankakee, IL; daughters, Felicia Jones of Kankakee, IL, Ireatha Jones of Bourbonnais, IL, Shalana (Travis) Pendleton of Kankakee, IL, Amber (Roman) Patterson of Memphis, TN, Latonya (Jeff) Mayes of Batesville, Mississippi and Leslie Garrett of Collinsville, IL, a brother, Willie “Pete” Thomas of Kenosha, WI; a sister, Lisa Green Ranson of Chicago, IL; an aunt, Ora Tate of Chicago, IL; close friends, Bertha Hoskins of South Holland, IL and Florence Smith of Chicago, IL; 19 grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Martin Shegog; a daughter, D’Marshea Shegog and a brother, Leslie Green Ranson.
