Robert T. Washington Sr., 61, of Kankakee, IL, died Friday, May 16, 2014 at Presence St. Mary’s Hospital. Cremation rites were accorded. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Robert T. Washington Sr. was born August 16, 1952 in Chicago, IL to Cleo Washington Sr. and Vera Hamilton Washington. He was baptized at Second Baptist Church in 2001 by Reverend Tyler Prude and was a member of Fresh Anointing Ministries. He attended St. Anne High School before completing his GED at Kankakee Community College. He had worked for Conrail Railroad for five years and as a teacher’s aide for Kankakee School District 111. A resident of the area for 45 years, he enjoyed cars, music, dancing and he had a flair for dressing. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, LaRita Washington of Kankakee, IL; three sons and one daughter-in-law, D’Arcy Washington of Las Vegas, NV, Robert Washington of Rock Hill, NC and Brandon and Tameka Washington of Key West, FL; his mother, Vera Washington of Pembroke Township, IL; three brothers and one sister-in-law, Wayne Washington of Pembroke Township, IL, Derrick Washington of Kankakee, IL and Jared and Tinishia Washington of Chicago, IL; three sisters, Kharen Fulton of Atlanta, Ga, Merlyn Barnes of Momence, IL and Jorgina Washington of Bourbonnais, IL; one aunt, Laura Ann Harrison of Kankakee, IL; two uncles, George Washington Jr. and Steven Washington, both of Kankakee, IL; his mother-in-law, Evelyn Canada of Kankakee, IL; sister-in-law and brothers-in-law, Dwayne Canada of Riverdale, GA, Vincent Canada of Peoria, IL and Marguerite Canada of San Antonio, TX; nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Seraphia Staples; his father, Cleo Washington Sr.; two brothers, Cleo L. Washington II and Kenneth Washington Sr.; a sister, Khimberly Washington; his paternal grandparents, Rev. George Washington Sr. and Albertia Washington; his maternal grandparents, Nina and James Hamilton; one aunt, Jackie Washington and two uncles, Donald Washington and Roger Washington.
