February 11, 1940 - February 24, 2011
Rita Ann Randall was born February 11, 1940 in Chicago, Illinois, the second child to Harry and Aretha Williams. Rita was baptized at an early age by Rev. Hezekiah Brady, Sr. at Christian Hope Baptist Church, No. 1 in Chicago, Illinois. She later moved to Pembroke Township, Illinois and attended Doney Elementary School and St. Anne High School. She furthered her education and attended college as well. Rita lived in Pembroke for 40 years and loved the area. She worked many years in the family business and was later employed at Manteno State Hospital. She also worked with the Senior Service Program of Kankakee County at several daycare centers. Most recently, she was a Foster Grandparent with Kankakee School District 111. During her early years in Pembroke, Rita was a member of the Christian Hope M.B. Church, No. 2 under the pastorate of Rev. Hezekiah Brady, Jr. She later became a member of Greater St. Paul M.B. Church where Rev. Leon King, Sr. was pastor. After moving to Sun River Terrace, Sis. Randall united with Greater New Hope Missionary Baptist Church under the pastorate of Rev. Howard L. Wills, Sr. She was an active member, attending as her health allowed. Rita enjoyed dressing up, going shopping, eating pecans, and wearing her high heels. She would wake up each morning, open her blinds and have her morning prayer. Afterwards, she would look to the heavens and say, â€Å"One more day, Lord; one more step.†She took that final step on Thursday, February 24, 2011. Preceding her in death were her parents, Harry Williams and Aretha Bennett, her loving son, James Kirk Randall, and her husband, James Randall. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her son, Darryl Renard Randall; her sister, Yvonne Savage (Freddie); nephews, Freddie Savage, III (Dionne) and Britt Savage; a niece, Sherri Savage; one daughter-in-law, Marion Randall; grandsons, James Kirk Randall, II and Kash Randall; granddaughters, Ciara Randall, De’Era Roberts and Tiffany Roberts; great-grandchildren, Liliana Randall, Cyniah Henderson and Aaliyah Roberts; aunts, Fannie Wortham and Minnie Lindsey; one great-nephew, Alford Taylor and one great-niece, Shaniece Savage; a host of loving cousins, church family and friends; four godchildren who loved her like their own mother, Gloria Kennedy, Sam Davis, Alfreda Daniels and Benny Nooks and best friends, Yvonne Murrell, and Yvonne Copeland Wright. Her son, Darryl, said he spoiled his mother. On her most recent birthday, Rita said Darryl had treated her with the utmost royalty. Now her heavenly Father gets to continue the same at her new home in glory.
