Pearlean Smith, 76, of Melrose Park, IL, formerly of Kankakee, IL, died Saturday, February 4, 2012 at Gottlieb Memorial Hospital in Melrose Park, IL. Visitation will be Friday, February 10, 2012 from 11:00 A.M. until time of funeral services at 12:00 noon at Lax Mortuary. Reverend Jessie Young will officiate. Burial will be in Kankakee Memorial Gardens. Pearlean Smith was born March 11, 1935 in Mayersville, Mississippi to Eddie Hite Sr. and Selena Brown. She was united in Holy Matrimony to Robert Smith, and was a homemaker. Mrs. Smith enjoyed singing. She leaves to cherish her memory, five daughters, Annie Boyd and Connell McFarland and Betty Boyd all of Chicago, IL, Dorothy Boyd of Webb, Mississippi, Alice Murphy and Judy Smith both of Kankakee, IL; three sons, James Boyd and Mack Boyd both of Chicago, IL and Robert Smith of Peoria, IL; one sister-in-law, Florence Hite of Kankakee, IL; one brother-in-law, Sylvester Bryant of Macon, Mississippi; 19 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, three sons, Pearly, Willie and Billy; four brothers, Eddie Hite, Henry Hite, Richard Hite and Buster Hite; and three sisters, Fannie Green, Willie Mae Elam and Rebecca Bryant.
