PRICE BENSON Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Price Benson, 80, of Pembroke Township, IL, died Friday, October 28, 2016 at Presence St. Joseph Medical Center, Joliet, IL. Visitation will be Friday, November 4, 2016 from 10:00 A.M. until time of funeral services at 11:00 A.M. at St. Anne Woods Community Chapel, Pembroke Township, IL. Reverend Louis Barnes will officiate. Burial will be in Washington Memory Gardens, Homewood, IL. Price Benson was the youngest of 10 children, born March 30, 1936 in Holly Springs, Mississippi to Mark Anthony and Minnie Benson. In 1951, he moved to Chicago, IL where he met, and was united in marriage to Annie J. Dunlap. Their union was blessed with one son. Price and his family moved to Robbins, IL in 1963 and he started the business, Bonner Construction. He relocated to St. Anne, IL in 1972 and became active as a volunteer firefighter in Pembroke for10 years. He retired from construction in 1988 and opened BensonÃ¢â‚¬â„¢s Grocery Store in Pembroke. He leaves to cherish his memory, two sons, Darryl Benson Sr. (Janetta Linebarger) of Pembroke Township, IL and Reverend Larry (Laverne) Ceasar of Chicago, IL; two adopted sons, Douglas Benson and Brian Belton, both of Pembroke Township, IL; six grandchildren, Darryl Jr. and Desiree Benson of Fayetteville, NC, Darren Benson of Arizona, Amy Dunlap of Kankakee, IL, Shaquilla Benson and Dion Tari Benson, both of Pembroke Township, IL, five additional grandchildren of Las Vegas, NV; one adopted grandson, Robert and Barbara Hutson of Kankakee, IL; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; two sisters-in-law, Beverly Benson of Cleveland, OH and Josie Lee Benson of Chicago, IL and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; one son, Johnny Frank Dunlap; one great-granddaughter, Serenity Benson; three brothers, Tom, Arthur Lee and Leroy Benson; six sisters, Mary Anne, Ruth, Rosemary, Janna, Helen and Leola; four brothers-in-law, Barnett Betts, Vergal Gibbs, Johnny Thomas and Charlie Steel; one nephew, Carl Thompson and one uncle, Ulysses.
