PERRY RIVERS Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Perry Rivers, 74, of Pembroke Township, IL, died Saturday, October 28, 2017 at his home. Visitation will be Friday, November 3, 2017 from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Funeral services will be Saturday, November 4, 2017 at 10:00 A.M. at Lax Mortuary. Reverend Charles DeLoach will officiate. Burial, with military honors, will be in Mound Grove Gardens of Memory. Perry Rivers was born February 10, 1943 in Birmingham, AL to Adell Rivers. He graduated from Parker High School in Birmingham, AL. He was united in holy matrimony to the former Roxie Wilkerson on June 11, 1965 and to their union three children were born. He worked for The Chicago Transit Authority for 28 years, as a bus driver and ticket agent. He was also a bus driver for First Student for five years. He enjoyed gardening and reading the newspaper and was a White Sox fan. He served in the United States Army. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Roxie Rivers of Pembroke Township, IL; one son, Jacquil Rivers of Pembroke Township, IL; two daughters, Cheryl Rivers and Lakeisha Rivers, both of Kankakee, IL; two brothers, Percy Hale of Pembroke Township, IL and Melvin Rivers of Detroit, MI; two sisters, Adell Rogers and Berna Hale, both of Detroit, MI; in-laws, Edna Wells and Linda Price, both of Jackson, Mississippi and Mary Jordan and Martha Stigger, both of Flora, Mississippi; one grandchild; special friend, Willie Baugh of Chicago, IL, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, three brothers and his grandparents.
