    Odessa Beals

    September 6, 1952 - December 28, 2010

Odessa Beals was born to Hazel Beals and John Isom Beals on September 6, 1952 in Chicago, IL. Odessa was employed by the Paramount Theatre in Kankakee where she was loved and respected by her fellow employees. Odessa departed this life when the Lord called her and she answered on December 28, 2010. She leaves to cherish her memory, two sons, Andre Beals and Ronald Beals both of Kankakee, IL; two daughters, Felicia Beals and Rhonda Beals, both of Kankakee, IL; one brother, Billy Dyson of Chicago, IL; five sisters, Katherine Beals of Kankakee, IL, Ann Beals, Lila Anderson, Kimberly Smith and Patricia Anderson, all of Chicago, IL; 10 grandchildren, Damien, Dannie, Adina, Ivan, Damicia, Marcus, Adonis, Rose, Tyler and Kevontae; one great-grandchild; 11 nieces, Sheila, Tina, Jetaun, Enica, Tiffany, Tammy, Nikki, Shavon, Kennetha, Kenisha and Kaprice; 10 nephews, Antoine, Curtis, Johnny, Dion, Maurice, Robert, Isaiah, Kenneth, Trivell and Cashmere; thirteen great-nieces; fourteen great-nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Hazel and John Beals Sr., her paternal grandmother, Catherine Jones; three sisters, Sheila, Lois and Earline; two brothers, Kenneth Anderson and John Beals Jr.; a sister-in-law, Vivian Beals; a nephew, Stanley and her stepmother, Thomasina. Farewell, Farewell Do not stand at my grave and weep. I am not there, I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow. I am the diamond glint on snow. I am the sunlight on ripened grain. I am the gentle autumn rain. When you wake in the morning’s hush, I am the swift uplifting rush Of quiet birds in circle flight, I am the soft stars that shine at night. So, do not stand at my grave and cry I am not there; I did not die. Odessa Beals
