NATHINEL FORTNEY JR.

January 17, 1963 - February 28, 2014

Nathinel Fortney Jr., 51, of Crystal, Minnesota, formerly of Kankakee, IL, died, Friday, February 28, 2014 at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Visitation will be Saturday, March 8, 2014 from 9:00 A.M. until time of funeral services at 10:00 A.M at Lax Mortuary. Reverend Dr. Willie Johnson will officiate. Burial will be in Mound Grove Gardens of Memory. Nathinel Fortney Jr. (Bug) was born January 17, 1963 in Rosedale, Mississippi to Lillian and Nathinel Fortney Sr. In 1966, at the age of three, his family moved to Kankakee, IL. He accepted Christ at an early age. Nate received his high school diploma from Eastridge High School. He loved sports, especially football and played little league football for the Eastside Bulldogs. Nate enjoyed life and loved making others laugh. His family and friends were his love as well as his Rock. He really loved going fishing with his Mom; they would fish for hours. He also loved dancing with his sister, Gertie. Nate will be remembered for one of his favorite phrases, â€Å"I’m Nate Dog.†Nate departed this life on February 28, 2014. He will be missed by family and friends-(I’m Nate Dog). To carry on his name, hopes and dreams, he leaves behind, his mother, Lillian Fortney of Minnesota; his father, Nathinel Fortney Sr. of Mississippi; his longtime girlfriend, Beatrice Britton of Minnesota; brothers and sisters-in-law, Willie Campbell, Del Fortney, George and Deborah Fortney and Tim and Virginia Fortney, all of Minnesota; sisters, Gertie Robinson of Minnesota and Bobbie Johnson of Cairo, IL, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by a brother, Joe Lee Campbell.
