Mary Lee Lofton, 88, of Kankakee, IL, died Sunday, October 3, 2010 at her home. Visitation will be Friday, October 8, 2010 from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Lax Mortuary and again on Saturday, October 9, 2010 from 9:00 A.M. until time of Funeral Services at 10:00 A.M. at Shiloh Full Gospel Baptist Church, Kankakee. Pastor Alan Roundtree will officiate. Burial will be in Mound Grove Gardens of Memory. Mary Lee Lofton was born March 16, 1922 in Crawford, Mississippi to Josephine and Peter Jackson. Mary accepted Christ at the age of ten and was baptized at Brownridge Missionary Baptist Church in Crawford, Mississippi. Mary attended Brownridge School in Crawford, Mississippi and Mary Holmes Boarding School in West Point, Mississippi. She was united in holy matrimony to Henry Lee Lofton in 1941, in Columbus, Mississippi. Mrs. Lofton worked as an upholstery seamstress at Kroehler. Prior to that, she worked at Joliet Arsenal. Mary enjoyed sewing, upholstering, collecting recipes, and spending endless time with all of her generations. She leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter and son-in-law, Mary Louise and Preston Williams of Kankakee, IL; a grandson, which she raised, Terry Lofton of Kankakee, IL; a brother, Ira Nelson of Kankakee, IL; a daughter-in-law, Martha Lofton of Kankakee, IL; two grandchildren, Preston Lee Jr. and Ivy Williams, of Urbana, IL and Mary Jo Williams of Montgomery, AL; seven great-grandchildren, Terek and Tiffany Lofton of Kankakee, IL, Preston Lee Williams, III and Jacquelyn Deneen and Paul Douglas all of Urbana, IL, Jaymi Twkeis Hairston Ellis and Andre of Kankakee, IL, Nia Monet Williams Brown and Jordan Logan of Montgomery, AL; ten great-great-grandchildren, Ericka, Shakela, Stephon, Jaydyn, and Genesys Lofton, Jonathan Omar Ward, Jaylin Kristpher and Jaymari Kristhin Hairston, Antoine Andre Ellis and Micah Amiri Robinson; three great-great- great-grandchildren, La-Mya, Kahshawn, and Ahkyra Lofton and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends and her Cincinnati, OH family; special friends, Lubertha Brooks, Lizzie Rice, Delores Seymore, Bernice McClinton, and Reta Hawkins and special caretaker, and Johnnie Delinda Watson. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, a son, Johnny Lofton and a granddaughter, Kristie Ann Hairston.
