MARCUS JONES SR.
March 16, 1970 - December 1, 2015
Marcus Gordon Jones Sr., 45, of Green Bay, WI, formerly, of Kankakee, IL, died Tuesday, December 1, 2015 at St. Vincent Hospital, Green Bay, WI. Visitation will be Saturday, December 12, 2015 from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the Celebration of Life at 11:00 A.M. at Lax Mortuary. Cremation rites will be accorded. Marcus Gordon Jones Sr. was born on March 16, 1970 in Chicago, Illinois. He was the fourth of six children. Marcus confessed his hope in Christ at a very young age. While in Chicago, the family attended The Greater Church of God in Christ under the direction of Elder Marcellus Groove. The family later moved to Kankakee Illinois where Bishop Daniel Landfair was the pastor. In 2001 he earned a Culinary Arts Degree from Fox Valley Technical College in Appleton, Wisconsin, this is what he became most passionate about pursuing for his employment goals. Marcus received his General Education Development Certificate from Northeast Wisconsin Technical College and then he went about improving himself as he pursued a Technical Diploma from Northeast Wisconsin Technical College (NWTC) in May of 2007. He continued his studies there earning an Associate in Applied Science Degree in Auto Collision Repair and Refinishing Technology in August of 2010 and an Associate’s in Applied Science in Criminal Justice Correction in May of 2011. Marcus was in ‘the zone’ when cooking, not only was he good at it, one could go as far as to say he was a great cook. He started cooking at ‘The Meadows’ and progressed so perfectly they decided they wanted him to pursue the above mentioned degree (at Fox Valley Technical College) and after its completion they made him their Executive Chef for over four years. He was also employed at The Thornberry Creek Golf Course and The Marq Banquet Halls which was his last job before the LORD called him home. Marcus loved the Green Bay Packers and the Wisconsin Badgers, he was one of their biggest fans, however, it pales in comparison when it comes to his kids, and he spared no expense to express his love and commitment to them. Marcus was most passionate and caring about his children. They learned lessons from him that will be forever cherished. When it came to pleasurably passing time, Marcus loved his family, and anything they did together was alright with him; cookouts, playing dominoes, cards, football games you name it, if it involved family, he loved it. Marcus’ fashion sense bears mentioning; and this is simply because rarely can a man have a pair of tennis shoes that are years old and they look like they’re new. Not to mention his love of ‘player hats,’ he had a few of them that were special and loved the way he looked in them. On Tuesday, December 1, 2015, God called Marcus home to be with Him. He went to heaven to join his daughter, Latrishia Jones; mother, Martha Pearl Jones; maternal grandmother, Julia Mae Felton-Phillips; maternal great-grandmother, Lue Carry Cheton, and his uncle, Pen Edward Felton. Marcus is waiting for and watching over his sons and daughters, Marcus G. Jones Jr., Diamond L. Jones, Kenzy L. Younk and Kennan Whitlock, along with his granddaughter, Mia A. Jones; his brothers, Robert Louis, Julius Leroy and Marshall Anthony Jones; his sisters, Toneia Yvette and Latrina Denette Jones; his uncles, Robert Jr., Ozzie and Donald Felton; aunties, Cynthia Felton, Rosetta Felton-Underwood and Loretta Brown Lawrence and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and a multitude of friends.
