MAERENA (MARY) FULTON Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Maerena (Mary) Fulton, 87, of Kankakee, died Wednesday, August 25, 2010 at Manor Care Health Services. Visitation will be Friday, September 3,2010 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Lax Mortuary and again on Saturday, September 4, 2010 from 9:00 AM until time of Funeral Services at 10:00 AM at Fair Haven Church of God in Christ, Kankakee, Illinois. Pastor Carl Randle will officiate. Burial will be in Mound Grove Gardens of Memory. Maerena (Mary) Fulton was born October 3, 1922 in Lowndes, County, Artesia, Mississippi. She was the third of twelve children born to Lucy Carter Fulton and Ezell Fulton. Mary loved the Lord and confessed hope in Christ at an early age. She received her formal education in the Mississippi public schools. She moved to Kankakee in 1940 and later relocated to Chicago where she was employed as a nanny before returning to Kankakee. She was a loving person who shared her life by helping family and friends. By taking one under her wings kept her young and vibrant. To know her was to love her. She graced us with her sense of humor and jokes that were full of love and laughter. Her favorite pastime was drinking a cold can of Pepsi while watching the Chicago Cubs. To know her was to love her. She will be missed by her family, extended family and friends. Maerena (Mary) Fulton completed her earthly journey on Wednesday, August 25, 2010. She leaves to cherish her memory, two sons, Charles (Chucky) Tate of Kankakee, IL and Gregory Sharp of Atlanta, GA; one daughter, Catherine Tate of Atlanta, GA; two brothers, Harris Fulton of Sun River Terrace, IL and Robert Fulton of Columbus, Mississippi; three sisters, Lucy Williams of Kankakee, IL, Beulah Griffin of Columbus, Mississippi and Frances Jackson of Aroma Park, IL; four grandchildren, Terrance Tate, Marcus Brooks, Tausha Tate and Gregory Murry; two great-grandchildren, Gracelyn McCaskill and Reginald Levy; six special grandchildren that she reared, Earl Andrews, JuTun Andrews-King, Aaron Andrews, Anjanita Dumas, Tyron Holloway and Holly Harris; special friends, Antonides Andrews, Bernice Britton and Sarah Douglas, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Ezell Fulton Jr., Peter Fulton, Thomas Fulton, and Charlie Fulton and two sisters, Sallie Randle and Ronnie Williams.
