Lawrence Edward Thomas Sr. was born February 28, 1955 in Memphis, Tennessee to Roosevelt Thomas and Daisy Hughey. He accepted Christ in Mississippi and later joined Pleasant Valley Missionary Baptist Church in West Green, Alabama where he served as an usher. Mr. Thomas graduated from St. Anne High School where he played football and ran track. He attended Kankakee Community College. He was employed by Olympic Steel in Plymouth, Minnesota and he served in the United States Army. On June 12, 1998, he was united in Holy Matrimony to the former Joyce Mobley. Lawrence Edward Thomas Sr. leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Joyce Thomas of Eutaw, AL; three sons, Lawrence Thomas Jr. of St. Paul, MN, Lonnell and Lonzell Thomas both of Kankakee, IL; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Denise and David Johnson Sr. of Sheffield, AL, Deanna and Damien Sykes of Kankakee, IL and Jasmine Mobley of Eutaw, AL; his father of Memphis, TN; seven brothers, R.J â€Å"Bob†and Annette Jolly of Tuscumbia, AL, Wenther and Sheren Rone, William Rone, Dwight and Faye Rone all of Kankakee, IL, John Jr. and Sarah Rone of Sun River Terrace, IL, Dwayne and Pat Rone of Bloomington, IL and Reginald Rone of Sheffield, AL; other brothers and sisters; special nephew and caregiver, Larry Thomas Jr.; stepchildren, James and Kathy Mobley of Cottondale, AL, Willie Mobley, Annette Mobley and Wynette Mobley, all of Minneapolis, MN, Christopher and Theresa Mobley of Eutaw, AL, Patrice and Joseph Robertson and Delaina and Calvin Mitchell; sisters-in-law, Matilda and Rev. Murk Thomas of North Port, AL and Geneva and Kenny Cheathum of Sheffield, AL; special friends, Yvonne Shannon of Kankakee, IL and Big Ray of Minneapolis, MN; 34 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Daisy Rone, two brothers, Chester Thomas and Larry Thomas Sr. and a daughter, Exedean Mobley.
