    February 17, 1929 - February 27, 2013

    John D. Prince, Sr., 84, of Pembroke, died Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at his home. Visitation will be Wednesday, March 6, 2013 from 10:00 a.m. until time of funeral services at 11:00 a.m. at Lax Mortuary. Bishop Richards will officiate. Burial will be in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, IL. Memorials may be made to the family. John D. Prince Sr. was born February 17, 1929 in Selma, AL to William and Annie Bell Jones Prince. Mr. Prince was a veteran of the Unites States Army and served in Germany. He was united in Holy Matrimony to the former Pauline Coleman on May 5, 1989. He worked as a steel hauler for LTV Steel and retired after 30 years of service. Mr. Prince enjoyed gardening, fishing and carpentry. He was a resident of Pembroke for 50 years and will be remembered for teaching and showing love. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife Pauline Prince of Pembroke, IL; four sons and two daughters-in-law, John Prince Jr. of Kankakee, IL, Bernard and Patricia Prince of Pembroke, IL, Kenneth and Brenda Denise Prince and Alan Prince all of Minnesota; three daughters, Mattie Prince of Minnesota, Brenda Prince of Kankakee, IL and Gwendolyn Prince of Minnesota; one brother and sister-in-law, Nathaniel and Mary Prince of Heathrow, FL; two sisters, Daisy Prince of Atlanta, GA and Rosetta Davis of Akron, OH; stepchildren, Peggy and Frank Nash of Wisconsin, Yvonne and Tom Cole, Anthony Hodge, Pam and Rochell Garden, Marie and Donell Harris, Fran Hodge, all of Minnesota, Denise and James Tidwell of Texas and Terry Hodge of Michigan City, IN; 45 grandchildren, 64 great-grandchildren ; special friends, Rose Whiter of Chicago, IL , Gerlene Bridges of Hopkins Park, IL, Ethel Moore and Ella Mae Lewis, both Pembroke, IL and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, William Prince and George Prince; eight sisters, Mattie Sears, Josephine Hall, Annie Bell Welch, Carrie McReynolds, Corine Felder, Lucile Priester, Missie Prince and Queenie Taylor.
