Jennie V. Works, 85, of Sun River Terrace, IL, died Friday, August 28, 2015 at her home. Visitation will be Friday, September 4, 2015 from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. at Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church. Visitation on Saturday, September 5, 2015 will be from 10:00 A.M. until time of Funeral Services at 11:00 A.M. at Greater New Hope Missionary Baptist Church. Reverend Ricky Dixon will officiate. Burial will be in Momence Cemetery. Jennie V. Yancy Works was the third of six children born to the late Harrison and Louise Moore Yancy on July 10, 1930 in Memphis, TN. Jennie confessed her life to Christ at an early age in Memphis, TN. She migrated to Chicago in 1952. Jennie started her life in Chicago. She was united in holy matrimony with the love of her life, John H. Works, on August 22, 1956. They were married by and received blessings from the Reverend Clay Evans of Chicago, IL. She later served at Paradise M.B. Church under the leadership of Homer Carter, and at Old Way M.B. Church, both of Chicago, IL. In 1969, John and Jennie relocated their family to Sun River Terrace, (known as Eldorado Terrace) IL. She became a member of Mt. Calvary M.B. Church under the leadership of Reverend Robert Rucker Sr., the late Reverend Alex T. Bond, and now the humble Pastor Ricky Dixon. She served faithfully on the MotherÃ¢â‚¬â„¢s Board until her health began to fail. Mother Works was a devoted and dedicated stay at home mom. She made sure her house was always in order. She was a devoted PTA parent. Jennie worked outside of the home at Manteno State Hospital and Dwight Correction Center. After retirement, she became a volunteer Foster Grandparent in the Kankakee School District 111. Jennie Works leaves to cherish her memory, one son; Samuel James Hightower of Boston, MA; six daughters and one son-in-law, Mitchiko Sandra Walker of Sun River Terrace, IL, Debbie and Garrick Riley of Atlanta, GA, Angel Joan Works Smith of Boston, MA, Queen Yvette Works of Desoto, TX, Daphine Dean Works Ward of Sun River Terrace, IL and Juno Tranna Works of Sun River Terrace, IL; one brother and two sisters-in-law, Robert E. and Martha Lee of Gary, IN and Mildred Yancy of Merrillville, IN; a special niece and nephew that she raised, Jennifer and Fredrick Montgomery of Dallas, TX; 20 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; special friends, Ann Radford, Annie Pearl, Willie B. Smith, Cecil Campbell and Maxine Thomas; three godchildren, Tamara Gillespie, Zekeda Archie and Brittany Sykes and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, John H. Works, her parents; Harrison and Louise; three brothers, Lewis, Harrison and L.Q. Yancy; one sister, Avria Lee and one granddaughter, Debra Marie. However, her most important job was loving family. She was the epitome of GodÃ¢â‚¬â„¢s love. God blessed her to enjoy her children and two generations of grandchildren.
