J. B. Hamilton Sr., 84, of Bourbonnais, died Tuesday, December 1, 2015 at Presence Our Lady of Victory Nursing Home. Visitation will be Friday, December 11, 2015 from 3:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at Lax Mortuary and again on Saturday, December 12, 2015 from 9:00 A.M. until time of funeral services at 10:00 A.M. at True Vine Church Of God In Christ, 600 S. Harrison Avenue, Kankakee. Elder John Lane will officiate. Burial will be in Mound Grove Gardens of Memory. J. B. Hamilton Sr. was born August 21, 1931 in Starkville, Mississippi to Wiley Hamilton and Annie Williams. He was a member of True Vine Church Of God In Christ where he served faithfully as a deacon. Mr. Hamilton worked for Felix-Long Memorial Hospital in Starkville, MS as an orderly and lab tech; worked in the physical plant at Mississippi State University and worked many years in maintenance at The Kankakee Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was united in Holy Matrimony to the former Thelma Evans. Mr. Hamilton loved people, he delighted in his children and grandchildren and loved going to church. He enjoyed watching sports, especially the Cubs and the Bears. He leaves to cherish his memory, two daughters, Betty Robertson of Starkville, MS and Sheila Blakely of Gulfport, MS; two sons and one daughter-in-law, J. B. Hamilton Jr. of Reform, MS and William Roy and Mary Harris of Crawford, MS; four stepdaughters, Zelma Evans and Maudfend Evans, both of Kankakee, IL, Sheila and William Hubbard of Starkville, MS and Lillie and Gerald Christian of Jackson, MS; four stepsons, Marion and Jane Evans of Columbus, MS, Sammie Evans of Starkville, MS, Aaron Evans of Yazoo City, MS and Harry Evans of Minneapolis, MN; one sister, Cherry Drake of Gulfport, MS; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Bettye Tucker of Bourbonnais, IL, Annie Pearl Davis and Elizabeth Dickerson, both of Chicago, IL, Della Lucious of Tacoma, WA and Roscoe and Ruth Lucious of Canton, MS; his ex-wife, Shirley Hamilton of Gulfport, MS; 13 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; 16 step-grandchildren; 25 step-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma Hamilton; a daughter, Debra Hamilton; two brothers, J. Q. Thompson and Osborn Norman; six sisters, Juanita Rogers, Decia Rogers, Lizzie McGee, Julia Zuber, Racheal Johnson and Theodis Eddins and two stepsons, James Evans and Jura Evans.
