    HAYWOOD BUSH SR.

    June 3, 1925 - January 1, 2013

Haywood â€Å"Buster†Bush Sr. was born on June 4, 1925 in Newark, NJ to Luman and Gertrude Bush. As a young man, Haywood worked in both agriculture and construction. He worked for General Foods in Kankakee and later, he retired from Pennsylvania Truck Line, a division of Conrail. Haywood was a very talented artist who was skilled in oils, pencil, and water color. He also enjoyed photography as he took many pictures of family and friends. Pictures were displayed in his home or presented in his â€Å"infamous†slide presentations. Fishing was also a favorite pastime. Haywood loved his family and would let everyone know they mattered. On birthdays, graduations and often for no reason at all, he would send a card or personal note to let you know he was thinking about you, to give some words of encouragement or to help you get through a tough time. Haywood married Rowena Patton Hooks on December 21, 1979. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Rowena Bush of South Holland, IL; three daughters, Beverly Stewart, Ingrid Fortinberry and Letitia Bush, all of Kankakee, IL; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Bruce and Murretta Ray of Bourbonnais, IL and Haywood Bush Jr. (Elois Clark) of Sauk Village, IL; two stepchildren, Tyrone Hooks and Rowelonda Hooks both of California; thirteen grandchildren, David Polk, Keisha Martin, Khamara (James) Hill, Chinelo (Yoko) Ray, Davina Stewart, Nicholas (Carrie) Stewart, Randall Bush, Chetni Cobb, Christopher Brown, Osauna Lafayette, Brenda Jefferson, Keisha Jefferson, and Carrington Bush; twenty-three great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; four sisters and one brother-in-law, Mary Robinson, Elizabeth Wheeler, Beatrice and Talmadge Lynch and Gertrude Kelso all of Cleveland, OH; one brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Anna Bell Lewis of Hopkinsville, KY; a brother-in-law, Leerue Patton Jr. of Chicago, IL; a sister-in-law, Alva P. Harper of Los Angeles, CA and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Richard Lewis, William Greenlee and Henry Lewis; two sisters, Lillian Bell and Patricia Gordon and one sister-in-law, Betty Lewis.
