ELIJAH DABNEY JR. Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Elijah Dabney Jr., 56, of Sun River Terrace, IL, died Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at Presence St. MaryÃ¢â‚¬â„¢s Hospital. Visitation will be Wednesday, November 19, 2014 from 10:00 A.M. until time of Funeral services at 11:00 A.M. at Lax Mortuary. Reverend Louis Barnes will officiate. Burial will be in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, IL. Elijah Dabney, Jr. was born April 12, 1958 in Detroit, MI to Barbara Mitchell and Elijah Dabney Sr. He was baptized at the House of Prayer Apostolic Church of God and graduated from St. Anne High School in 1976. A few years later he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and in 1980 he was united in marriage to Kathleen Willis. Remembered for his loving heart, he leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Kathleen Dabney of Hopkins Park, IL; four sons, Elijah Dabney III, Elisha Dabney and Anthony Dabney, all of Hopkins Park, IL and Jerome Dabney of Kankakee, IL; two daughters, Latisha Dabney of Hopkins Park, IL and Elisha Jordan of Arkansas; his mother, Barbara Crite of Lehigh Acres, FL; nine brothers and four sisters-in-law, Elisha Dabney Sr. and Milford Dabney, both of Raleigh, NC, Hiram Dabney, Michael Dabney Sr. and Wilson Jr. and Carolyn Crite, all of Kankakee, IL, Kenneth and Ciesta Crite of Matteson, IL, Gregory and Karen Crite of Hopkins Park, IL, Daniel and Margaret Crite and Patrick Crite, all of Milwaukee, WI; one sister, Sheila Johnson of McDonough, GA; his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Cynthia Willis of Kankakee, IL, Annie Willis, Vanessa and Johnathan Hunt and Albert Willis, all of Hopkins Park, IL; a special niece and caregiver, Mykela Dabney of Sun River Terrace, IL; one grandchild; one aunt, Bessie Dabney of Chicago, IL; three uncles, Elester Dabney and Adolfus Dabney, both of Chicago, IL and Leon Dabney of Kankakee, IL, and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Elijah Dabney Sr.; his stepfather, Wilson Crite Sr. and his grandmothers, Bessie Parker and Maude Crite.
