Eddie Harmon Jr., 58, of University Park, IL, passed away September 3, 2018 at his home. Visitation will be Friday, September 14, 2018 from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M at Lax Mortuary, Kankakee and again on Saturday, September 15, 2018 from 10:00 A.M. until time of funeral services at 11:00 A.M. at House of God Church, 10555 S. Emerald Avenue, Chicago, IL 60628. Elder Eddie Harmon III will officiate. Burial will be Monday, September 17, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. in Mound Grove Gardens of Memory. Eddie Harmon Jr. was born October 11, 1959 in Chicago, IL, the second of five children born to Eddie Harmon Sr. and Ola Mae Brooks Harmon. Eddie was a lifelong member of House of God Church, Chicago, IL. He graduated from Corliss High School and did further studies at Olive-Harvey College and Chicago State University. Eddie was employed by Sherwin-Williams. He was united in holy matrimony to the former Joyce Calvin on September 12, 2013. Eddie loved music and was a talented self-taught bass guitar player. With his bass guitar purchase from Montgomery Ward, he taught himself how to play in two days’ time and was ready to go on the road. He played with Calvin Cook and for other notables in the Chicago area. He also enjoyed traveling and loved his family. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Joyce Calvin-Harmon of University Park, IL; four sons and daughters-in-law, Dante and Stephanie Harmon of Atlanta, GA, Enrico and Estrelitta Harmon of Chicago, IL, Eddie and Tiffany Harmon III of Ft. Lauderdale, FL and Marshonn and Tamela Calvin of Memphis, TN; five daughters and three sons-in-law, Detra Nicole and Gilbert Evans of Florida, Brittany and Ryan Seaton of Carbondale, IL, Makeyla and Dinisio Richardson of Kankakee, IL, Metrice Calvin of Bourbonnais, IL and Mickalaia Calvin-King of Kankakee, IL; his parents, Eddie and Ola Mae Harmon Sr. of Chicago, IL; one brother and sister-in-law, Rodney and Sharon Harmon of Chicago, IL; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Dorrie Ann and Gregory Adams of Hazel Crest, IL and Denise and Edgar Hobbs of Phoenix, AZ; his mother-in-law, Ruthie Calvin of Kankakee, IL; a sister-in-law, Crystal Harmon of Chicago, IL; 15 grandchildren; one great-grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by a brother, Anthony Harmon and his grandmother, Ora Brooks.
