Curtis (Bobby) Breaux Jr., 70, of Kankakee, died Monday, April 5, 2010 at Kindred Chicago Central Hospital. Visitation will be Thursday, April 15, 2010 from 10:00 A.M. until time of Funeral Services at 11:00 A.M. at Caldwell Chapel AME Zion Church. Reverend Dr. William Turner will officiate. Burial, with military rites, will be in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, IL. Curtis (Bobby) Breaux Jr. was born May 13, 1939 in New Orleans, Louisiana to Christine Dillon Breaux and Curtis Breaux Sr. Mr. Breaux was a faithful member of Caldwell Chapel AME Zion where he served as president of the Lay Council. He attended Lincoln County Training School in Bogue Chitti, Mississippi. He continued his education at Dillard University in New Orleans, LA. He taught at Kankakee Community College and retired from Local Labor Union #751 for construction. Mr. Breaux served in the United States Air Force. He enjoyed sports, reading, going to the Farmer's Market and church with his mom, fixing cars and spending time with his family. He was united in Holy Matrimony to Brenda Vavasseur and their union was blessed with two children. He later was united in marriage to Brenda Greer. Curtis Breaux Jr. departed this life on April 5, 2010. He leaves to cherish his memory, one son, Ron Breaux of Los Angeles, CA; one daughter, Meyette Breaux of Los Angeles, CA; his mother, Christine Verrett of Kankakee, IL; three sisters, Loretta of Morrow, GA, Brenda of LaCanada, CA and Carol of Las Vegas, NV; five brothers, Royce of Huntsville, AL, Joseph Jr. of Americus, GA, Ernest of Martinez, GA and Dennis and Dietrus both of Kankakee, IL; four stepchildren, Nadia, Sherrie, Endra, all of Kankakee, IL and Chauncie of Bourbonnais, IL; five grandchildren, Dana, Jordan, Darieon, Nichelle and Dymon; step-grandchildren, Shauntori, Jaylan, Zyheir, Yakini, Christopher, Ta'Quayshia, Oasis and Braijon; two great-grandchildren, Nylana and Janel; one uncle, Edmond Dillon of Austin, TX; two aunts, Clarice Coney of Canton, MS and Alice Dillon of Kankakee, IL; his longtime companion, Lela Reed of Kankakee, IL; special friend, Clifford Calhoun of Kankakee, IL and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father; a stepson, Dwayne Cooks; stepfather, Joseph Verrett Sr.; nine uncles, Verniss, Leo, Percy, Lee, Cleophus, Freddie, Theodore, Claudell and Lesther Dillon; three aunts, Theresa Leggett, Lillie B. Chaffee and Lillie Dillon.
