    Carl Barker Sr.

    January 5, 1958 - September 2, 2020

    Carl Barker Sr. was born January 5, 1958 in Chicago, IL to Rosalie and Roy Barker Sr. He gave his life to Christ at a young age. He enlisted in the United States Army on February 19, 1981. He was employed by Shapiro Developmental Center as a mental health technician. He also worked as a prison guard at Dwight Correctional Center. His hobbies were music, movies, fishing and spending time with his family and friends. He also loved playing music with his son Carl Jr. and his brothers (The Barker Brothers). He is awarded the “Best Dad in the World” award from Carla and Carl Jr. Carl Sr. was united in marriage to Linda Winston (Collins) and later to Cathy (Barker-Brown). Through these unions Carla and Carl Jr. were born. He leaves to cherish his memory, one son, Carl Barker Jr. of Monee, IL; two daughters and one son-in-law, Carla Barker-Williams (Brandon Williams) of Aubrey, TX and Courtney Barker of Carlsbad, CA; six brothers and one sister-in-law, Roy Barker Jr. and Melvin Barker, both of Minneapolis, MN, Gregory Barker, Mark (Rosalyn) Barker, Anthony Barker and Timothy Barker, all of Kankakee, IL; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Monica Watts-Burks and Eula and Howard Burns, all of Bloomington, IL; special friend, Elaine Springer of Kankakee, IL; three grandchildren, Brandon Williams Jr., Carter Williams and Carmen Barker, and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother and father; one brother, Leo Barker Sr.; one sister, Linda Burnett; his grandfather, Melvin Barker and his grandmother, Hattie Barker.
