February 27, 1971 - November 2, 2018
Mr. Brian (Marshall) Woods, also known by many of his close friends as â€Å"Frecks†, or by many of his family members as â€Å"Cat†, or by one of his late aunts as â€Å"White Folks†was born to the union of the late Jessie â€Å"Tootie†Marshall and Celia Mary Marshall on February 27, 1971 in Chicago, Illinois. He spent his early years living and attending grammar school through high school in both California and Illinois. At an early age, Brian professed his faith in Jesus Christ and became a member of Greater Christian Unity Missionary Baptist Church, in Robbins, IL and remained a member of that church through most of his teenage years. During his later years, Brian joined Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church, in Kankakee, IL where he again accepted Jesus Christ and was baptized for the second time on April 21, 2013. As a young man, Brian was a sports fanatic. As such, he loved to play many sports and he also loved to attend a variety of sporting events. In terms of playing sports, Brian excelled at basketball, football, baseball and volleyball. Nevertheless, as he loved playing all the sports he excelled at, basketball would rise as his ultimate favorite sport of them all. In terms of basketball, Brian was often the first to hit the playground or gymnasium court and could be found there well after the sun went down. He was so passionate about basketball, that he was known for turning a few clothes hangers, some rubber bands, and a basketball net into a basketball rim. He would then hang his self-made basketball rim from the bedroom door: just so he could get a game in. As far as his game went, Brian was most definitely a straight â€Å"baller.†He was known around the city for his sweet lefty jumper, his quick hands, crazy speed, and no-look, â€Å"show time†passes. So much so, that some compared his basketball skills to the Hall of Fame Laker Earvin â€Å"Magic†Johnson; which, he never disputed. Also, at an early age, Brian discovered that he was an artistic genius; consequently, he could draw almost anything that he put his mind to. Brian was so gifted, that at the age of 15 years old, he drew several Marvel comic book characters that looked so amazingly real that his exhibit would’ve made the actual Marvel comic book artists extremely jealous, had they seen his work of art. Drawing was most certainly one of Brian’s passions, and it simply came natural for him. In terms of his professional career, Brian spent several years working in both manufacturing and many of the construction trades. He loved the construction trades because it allowed him to work with his hands, it also allowed him to work at different job sites, and he would always say that he felt like he was really accomplishing things working a project from beginning to end, but most importantly, he loved the construction trades because he was able to work outside; which, he simply loved being outside, â€Å"doing something.†Furthermore, Brian was also known as a very generous person who would literally, â€Å"give you the shirt off of his back.†As a result of his generous spirit and pleasant personality, Brian was loved by many. Brian’s life was as beautiful as the clear night star-filled sky, that he loved so dearly, and his influence will forever remain in the lives of all who entered his life. Brian quietly transitioned from this life Friday, November 2, 2018 at Glenshire Healthcare in Richton Park, IL. following a very lengthy hard-fought war with serious health issues. Brian was preceded in death by his father Jesse â€Å"Tootie†Marshall, both maternal and paternal grandparents, and several family members and close friends. In closing, Brian’s beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of his Loving mother Celia; children: Bre’Asia, Tre, & Amaree; sisters: Armeia and Lashawn; brother: Patrick; his unborn grandchild; a very devoted and special Earth Angel Jacqueline Minor; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and loving family members.
