SARAH WASHINGTON

Sarah Ann Washington, 25, of Kankakee, died Thursday, June 26, 2014. Visitation will be Friday, July 4, 2014 from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Lax Mortuary with time set aside from 5:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. for friends to share reflections with the family. Visitation will again be held on Saturday, July 5, 2014 from 9:00 a.m. until time of Funeral services at 10:00 a.m. at Greater New Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Kankakee. Reverend Derrick Wallace will officiate. Burial will be in Mound Grove Gardens of Memory. Memorials may be made to the family. Sarah Ann Washington was born June 10, 1989 in Rushville, IL, to DeAngelo and Kathy (Gates) Washington. She accepted Christ and was a member of Trinity Missionary Baptist Church in Kankakee. She spent her childhood in Macomb, IL and graduated from Central High School in Clifton, IL. She earned her CNA certification from Kankakee Community College. Sarah was a nurse at Riverside Medical Center; a model for Polk Entertainment Modeling Troupe and a professional model for Factor Modeling Agency. She was a volunteer for charities. Sarah had a strong spiritual faith. She enjoyed reading, dancing, listening to music, taking pictures, exercising, baking, telling jokes, shopping and attending musicals and plays. She will be remembered most for her tender loving care of her patients, her beautiful appearance and personality, and her love of her family and friends. She leaves to cherish her memory, her parents, DeAngelo Washington of Chicago, IL and Kathy (Gates) Washington of Kankakee, IL; her three brothers, Jeremy Washington, Joshua Washington and Zachary Washington, all of Kankakee, IL; her maternal grandmother, Lossie Gates of Kankakee, IL; her paternal great-grandmother, Cealie Griffin of Chicago, IL; her maternal aunts, Linda (Albert) Gruber of Munster, IN, Martha Gates of Calumet City, IL and Dawn (Prentiss) Hill of Chicago, IL; paternal aunt, Cealie (Greg) Benson of Chicago, IL; maternal uncle, Robert Gates Jr. of Calumet City, IL and paternal uncle, Juan Washington of Chicago, IL; her maternal great-aunts, Minnie Smith and Magdeline (Charles) Massey both of Monroe, NC; her maternal great-uncles, Russell Alsbrooks of Charlotte, NC, Billy Joe (Celestine) Alsbrooks of Monroe, NC and Gilbert Alsbrooks of Goldsboro, NC; her cousins, Kayley Gruber, Kaylynn Gruber, Kayla Gruber, Kaylauren Gruber, Albert Gruber III, Alan Gruber and Alec Gruber, all of Munster, IN, Blair Washington, Juanita Washington and Miracle Washington, all of Kalamazoo, MI and James Washington and Cameron Walker, both of Chicago, IL, and a host of other relatives and friends. Sarah was preceded in death by a brother, Matthew Washington, her paternal grandmother, Earmer Washington, her maternal grandfather, Robert Gates Sr., her maternal great-grandmother, Malinda Alsbrooks, her maternal great-grandfather, Russell Alsbrooks, and her paternal great grandfather, Wesley Griffin.
