ROBERT DIXON

Robert Lee Dixon, 73, of Kankakee, IL, passed away on Friday, May 4, 2018 at Citadel Care Center. Visitation will be Friday, May 11, 2018 from 5:00 until 8:00 P.M. at Lax Mortuary and again on Saturday, May 12, 2018 from 9:00 A.M. until time of funeral services at 10:00 A.M. at Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church. Reverend Montele Crawford will officiate. Burial will be in Mound Grove Gardens of Memory. Robert Lee Dixon was born January 1, 1945 in Bolton, Mississippi to the late Samuel Dixon Sr. and Willie Bell Burse Dixon. Robert Lee confessed his faith in Christ at a young age and was a faithful member of Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church for over 45 years, until his health failed. He utilized his singing talent in the adult and menÃ¢â‚¬â„¢s choirs. He was also a member of the singing group, The Flying Clouds of Joy. He was employed by Bunge. Robert Lee was united in holy matrimony to the former Rose Marie Boyd on October 26, 1974 and to their union three children were born. He leaves to cherish his memory, two sons and one daughter-in-law, Robert Dixon of DeSoto, TX and Cedric and Linda Dixon of Little Rock, AR; two daughters and one son-in-law, Arletha and Larry Jackson of Jackson, Mississippi and Jasmyne Dixon of Kankakee, IL; two brothers and sisters-in-law, George and Patricia Dixon and Reverend Roosevelt and Patricia Dixon, all of Gary, IN; four sisters and three brothers-in-law, Rosie Lee Nelson of Jackson, Mississippi, Christine and Reverend Roger Sykes of Kankakee, IL, Katherine and Harry Edmond of Minneapolis, MN and Carrie and Robert Williams of Cincinnati, OH; in-laws, Mary and James Moore of Chicago, IL, Patricia Blackburn, Veronica Jackson, Carolyn Harris, James Harris, Eteria and Roosevelt Martin and Leonard Harris, all of Memphis, TN and Eddie Smith of San Diego, CA; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rose Dixon; a daughter, Regina Dixon; two brothers, Samuel Dixon and Joseph Dixon and four sisters, Josie Watson, Mary Carroll, Ernestine Smith and Polly Mae Dixon.
