Larry Hale

Larry Donnell Hale, 65, was born in Wetumpka, Alabama on October 20, 1955, one of 10 children born to Mable Leverne Hale and Simmie Frank Hale. Larry confessed Christ and was a devoted member of Greater New Hope Missionary Baptist Church for 38 years, under the esteemed Pastor Howard L. Wills Sr. He was united in Holy Matrimony to the former Betty Joyce Lykes on April 9, 1990 and to this union three children were born, Esparanza, Duane and RaShagun. He received his education at W.B. Doby in Wetumpka, AL and Westview High School, Kankakee, IL, and later he received his GED in 2010. Larry was employed by Gould Battery, and retired after 29 Years; Olivet Nazarene University for two years, and most recently he was employed by Big Express Wash and Lube of Bradley, IL. Larry loved spending time with his wife, Betty, his grandchildren and family and friends. He enjoyed playing cards and fishing. Larry Donnell Hale transitioned life on June 28, 2021 at AMITA Health St. Mary’s Hospital, Kankakee, IL. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Betty J. Hale of Kankakee, IL; two sons, Duane Hale, and RaShagan Hale, both of Kankakee, IL; one daughter, Esparanza Lykes Mosley (Michael Jr.) of Kankakee, IL; nine siblings, Simmie Hale Jr. (Henrietta) of Wetumpka, AL, Janice Alfreda Jackson of Montgomery, AL, Inese Loretha Smoke of Wetumpka, AL, Nitha Joyce Young (Jolly) of Alexander City, AL, Margie Hollis (Alfred) of Kankakee, IL, Frankie L. Hale of Columbus, OH, Charles E. Hale (Mary) of Eclectic, AL, Beth Townsend (William) of Eclectic, AL and James W. Hale of Montgomery, AL; two brothers-in-law, Henry Lykes (Barbara) of Inkster, MI and Kenneth Lykes of Montgomery, AL; five sisters-in-law, Mary Ellis of Kankakee, IL, Catherine Spearman (Jimmy) of Gary, IN, Dera Smith (Willie) and Grace Lykes, both of Wetumpka, AL and Jessie Lykes-Curtis of Hinesville, GA; two aunts, Willie D. Freeman and Mildred Benson, both of Wetumpka, AL; one uncle, Ben Earl Gray of Brooklyn, NY; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mable Leverne Hale; his father, Simmie Frank Hale and a granddaughter, Ta’Niyah Hale.
