Lagail Laster

Lagail V. Laster, born March 18, 1962, in Little Rock, Arkansas, passed away June 21, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, resilience, and joy. She was the beloved daughter of Homer and Erma Jean Willis Laster. Lagail attended Douglass Elementary and Englewood High School. She accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Travelers Rest in Chicago, IL. She attended Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Sun River Terrace, IL. Lagail exemplified a strong work ethic and dedication. She spent many years working at Momence Meat Packing and previously at Precisionaire in Momence, Illinois. Known for her fighting spirit, Lagail never backed down from a challenge. But more than anything, she was motivated by the happiness of others. She found true joy in lifting up those around her. Lagail had a passion for cooking. Music, dancing, singing, and playing cards were some of her favorite pastimes, all of which reflected her love for life and her vibrant personality. She was most at home when surrounded by family, creating memories filled with laughter and love. Lagail V. Laster leaves to cherish her memory, her sons, Antoine (Ruby) Laster, Jovaris Laster (Whitney McKay), Tyrone Brooks and Ladarious Tucker, all of Kankakee, IL; her companion, Freddie Scales of Pembroke Township, IL; her brothers, Kerry (Suzett) Laster, Tony Laster (Carla Smith) and Homer Laster; her sisters, Denotra (Michael) Martin, Betrina (Eugene) Stamps and Connie (Sidney) Laster Brown; a brother-in-law, Cornelius Williams; her grandchildren, Alexis Speed, Emari Brooks, Javaria Laster, Javaya Laster, Jovaris Laster Jr., Jakira Laster, Jovarion Laster, Jayveion Laster, Jasiya Laster, Keshawn Tucker, Ladarrion Tucker and Shanika Smith and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Carlyon Williams; brothers, Abraham (Mary Ann) Laster, Freddie Laster and Frank Laster; a grandson, Tyrone Terrell Brooks III; uncles, Theolis (BJ) Mims, Roosevelt Williams and Louis Grove; aunts, Annie Stacy, Ora Bruce and Bernice Tye; two nephews, Milton Sykes and Byron Laster. Lagail lived her life to the fullest and she will be truly missed by many.
