KOURTNEY VAULX

Kourtney Vaulx, 42, of Manteno, IL, passed away Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at River North of Bradley Health and Rehabilitation Center. Visitation will be Friday, November 24, 2017 from 4:00 until 8:00 P.M. at Lax Mortuary and again on Saturday, November 25, 2017 from 9:00 A.M. until time of funeral services at 10:00 A.M. at Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church. Reverend Lori Holmes will deliver the eulogy. Burial will be in Mound Grove Gardens of Memory. Memorials may be made to Multiple Sclerosis. Kourtney Vaulx was born December 18, 1974 in Kankakee, IL to Kathleen and Marshall Vaulx Jr. She graduated from Kankakee High School in 1992 and furthered her education at Olivet Nazarene University where she received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration. She would later receive her Masters of Arts in Adult and Higher Education, with an emphasis in Student Affairs, from Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, IL. She was a member of Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church where she served in various capacities. She served in the Mission Ministry, the WomenÃ¢â‚¬â„¢s Group, helped in the Youth Department, had been a member of the choir, and was the promoter of the Panera Bread donations, for four years. KourtneyÃ¢â‚¬â„¢s professional experience included work as a victim advocate for the States Attorney Office; graduate counselor at Northern Illinois University and class instructor; and a guidance counselor and substitute teacher at Grace Baptist Academy. She was a member of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority. She leaves to cherish her memory, her loving parents, Kathleen and Marshall Vaulx Jr. of Kankakee, IL; two sisters, Kristney Vaulx of DeKalb, IL and Marsha Vaulx of Aurora, IL; one nephew, Rueben; two nieces, Dominique and Aria Dae; six aunts and one uncle, Mary Wynn of Orlando, FL, Robbie Willet, Annette Minor, Joyce Clark-Kaufman and Leonardo Kaufman, Gwen Lee and Angeline Vaulx, all of Memphis, TN, and a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Robert and Mildred Minor; her paternal grandparents, Nellie and Marshall Vaulx Sr.; three uncles, Lanny Vaulx, William Taylor and Percy Lee, and one aunt, Marilyn Taylor.
