HARRIS FULTON SR.

Harris Fulton Sr., 86, of Sun River Terrace, IL, died Saturday, October 31, 2015 at his home. Visitation will be Friday, November 6, 2015 from 9:00 A.M. until time of funeral services at 10:00 A.M. at Zion Gate Missionary Baptist Church. Pastor Ronald Bartlett will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Kankakee, IL. Harris Fulton Sr. was born April 12, 1929 in Crawford, Mississippi to Ezell and Lucy Carter Fulton. Mr. Fulton had worked for Bear Brand. It was there that he met the man who would apprentice him as an electrician. He imparted his knowledge to his son and a nephew, as he trained them to become skilled electricians. Mr. Fulton worked as an independent electrician for 60 years, owning Harris Fulton Electrical Contracting Service. As an electrical contractor, Mr. Fulton was responsible for the electrical installation at Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church, Lorenzo R Smith School and other community constructions. One of his philanthropic gifts was the Ã¢â‚¬ËœstarÃ¢â‚¬â„¢ atop Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church. Mr. Fulton loved his family dearly and instilled in them the value of love and hard work. He was an avid hunter of small game and had once been an active member of the Masonic Order. He leaves to cherish his memory, three daughters and two sons-in-law, Frankie and Troy Williams, Vivian Williams and Vesta and Michael Barrett, all of Kankakee, IL; one son, Harris Fulton Jr. of Kankakee, IL; 11 grandchildren, including a special granddaughter, Jess-Yanni Barrett; 21 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Beulah Mae Ã¢â‚¬Å"MollyÃ¢â‚¬Â Griffin of Columbus, Mississippi and Lucy Williams of Kankakee, IL; one brother, Robert Ã¢â‚¬Å"Cool CatÃ¢â‚¬Â Fulton of Columbus, Mississippi; a very special friend, Rose Perkins of Chebanse, IL, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Willie Mae Fulton; four sisters, Frances Jackson, Maerena (Mary) Fulton, Ronnie Fulton and Sallie Randle; four brothers, Ezell Fulton Jr., Peter Fulton, Thomas Fulton and Charlie Fulton, and one grandson, Curtis Jones Jr.
