Climether Ellis

Climether was born on Saturday, April 23rd, 1938 in Hernando Mississippi to the union of Joseph and Laura Sims. She was the oldest of the four children born to that union. Climether began her spiritual journey at an early age. She started attending services as a child at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Eudora Mississippi. Clim met and married Jr. Woodard in Blytheville, Arkansas and to that union one child was born, Linda Kay Woodard. They eventually relocated to Chicago, Illinois. Although, her marriage to Jr. did not last long she continued to stay in Illinois. She eventually cared for two of her younger siblings; Frank Sims, and Rossetti Sims as they were sent to Chicago to live with her. She worked diligently to provide for them all. Clim then met Louis C. Ellis and they courted for a while and were ultimately wedded on June 21st, 1967. Louis had two boys from his previous marriage and Clim had her daughter from her previous marriage as well and they set forth to blend their families with love. A while after there were three more additions to that union. They resided on the West of Chicago for more than thirty years until they decided to relocate to Hopkins Park, Illinois. Clim wore many hats and was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. She always said that when she helps someone, she does not do it because she was expecting something in return but hopefully, they would extend a helping hand to someone else that was in need. She always said that everyone needed some help at some time or another. Clim always emphasized the importance of education. She said that she worked as hard as she did because she had to, but she did not want the same for her children. Clim met and started studying with the Jehovah’s Witnesses in 2014 and as her study continued, she became more curious about the teachings. She began attending weekly meetings and ultimately, she started to with her own personal study. She was eager to learn and was met with limitations while trying to go out on field study because she could not get around like she was used to, but still she was not discouraged she insisted on doing what she could. Clim made the promise to follow Jehovah and continued her studies and was ultimately baptized on July 13th, 2019 at the Kingdom Hall in Romeoville, Illinois. Clim touched many lives with her big smile and can-do attitude. She loved children and made sure that she was able to spend a lot of time with her own children and grandchildren as much as she could. She was a light in the darkness, and she was always pushing those around her to be the best-t version of themselves. She left her mark everywhere she went and never met a stranger. She always had a story to tell to put a smile on your face. Clim always emphasized how important it was to have a relationship with God, and how important the family unit is. She was always eager to share the lessons that she was learning with her bible studies. Also, she taught life lessons – she would often make sure to show her children and grands how to do things around the land. Clim often would keep the children busy and show them how to use different tools and build projects around the house. She was strong and empowering and gentle and kind. Clim was a rare jewel and although she left her mark on all of us, she can never be replaced. Clim was preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Laura Sims; her husband – Louis Ellis; three brothers - Joseph Sims, George Sims, and Andre Sims; three sisters - Rossetti Sims, Darlene Jenkins, and Valerie Ross; two grandsons – Brian Williams, and Marshawn Ellis.
