CARLENE JACKSON

Carlene Jackson, 75, entered into eternal rest on June 20, 2010 at Bradley Royale Health Care Center. Visitation will be held at Saint Teresa Catholic Church on Wednesday, June 30, 2010 from 10:00 A.M. until time of the Memorial Service at 11:00 A.M. Father Tom Cargo will officiate. Cremation rites were accorded. Inurnment will be in Mound Grove Gardens of Memory. Carlene Jackson was born August 10, 1934 in Meridian, Mississippi to Emma and Clinton Davis, and grew up with her grandmother and cousins. Carlene was an alumnus of Youngstown State University. She worked in several fields and had a passion for serving others, such as teaching high risk youth and working with the physically and mentally disabled. She retired from Shapiro Developmental Center. Carlene was an active member of St. Teresa Catholic Church. She continuously studied the word of God and possessed a strong prayer life. She believed: if youÃ¢â‚¬â„¢re going to worry, then donÃ¢â‚¬â„¢t pray, but, if you pray, then donÃ¢â‚¬â„¢t worry! No matter what sort of difficulty Carlene was going through, she continually encouraged and ministered to others, and offered words of encouragement even through her last trials and tribulations. Her hobbies included cooking, crocheting, arts and crafts, reading and entertaining. Carlene will always be remembered for her warm spirit, as she enjoyed entertaining and she opened her door to friends and family. Carlene Jackson leaves to cherish her memory, her mother, Emma Houston of Kankakee, IL; one son, David Jackson of Columbus, OH; two daughters, Dwan Jackson of Houston, TX and Terri Jackson Hawkins of College Park, GA; two grandsons, Lamar Jackson and Kyle Hawkins; a first cousin, raised as her brother, Eugene Toler of Kankakee, IL; and a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Clinton Davis; ex-husband, Burton Jackson and cousin, Anna Grace Griffin. The family of Carlene Jackson would like to thank Dr. Keith Moss, staff at Miller Sojourn, Bradley Royale, Hospice of Kankakee Valley, and the many friends that visited her.
