ASALEE HENLEY

Asalee Henley, 90, of Bourbonnais, IL, passed away Saturday, September 23, 2017 at her home. Funeral services will be Saturday, September 30, 2017 at Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church at 1:00 P.M. There will be no visitation. Reverend Charles DeLoach will officiate. Burial will be Monday, October 2, 2017 in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Chicago, IL. Asalee Owens Henley was born February 17, 1927, to Jessie Bell (Pearson) Owens and Jessie Owens in Inverness, Mississippi. She was the fourth child of nine born to this union. She confessed to Christ at an early age while living in Mississippi. After moving to Chicago, Illinois she met and married Moses Henley. To this union, six children were born. Asalee attended school in Inverness Mississippi. She enjoyed traveling. She was a Ã¢â‚¬ËœRoad RunnerÃ¢â‚¬â„¢ and loved to take driving trips. She traveled to many states in the US and even Canada and Mexico. She also loved gardening and flowers; she had a wonderful collection of houseplants. In heaven, she will continue her gardening skills. She was a member of the Lilydale Missionary Baptist Church for 45 years where she was a member of the Senior Gospel Choir, the Keenagers Community Club, The Excelsior Club, and Sunday School. She was employed in the Church Office as a clerk for 17 years. Asalee was a faithful mother of Lilydale MBC until moving to Bourbonnais, Illinois in 2008. She then joined the Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church where she was a member of the MotherÃ¢â‚¬â„¢s Board. Asalee was employed in Chicago with Admiral TV, AldenÃ¢â‚¬â„¢s Catalog Company. She retired from Lilydale MBC to care for her beloved husband Moses in his later years. Asalee was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Moses, her daughters Dorothy and Katie, grandson Brian, and great-grandson Jeremy. Also preceding her in death were her siblings, Creola, Forest, Inez, Fulton, and Robert. Asalee leaves to mourn; Children, Lamont (Cynthia), Janice, Jerry (Angela) and Laura. She also leaves 14 Grandchildren, 19 Great Grandchildren, and six Great, Great, Grandchildren. One Sister, Katie and two Brothers, Odell and Jerry. Three Ã¢â‚¬ËœSpecial Little SistersÃ¢â‚¬â„¢, Bernice Robertson, Dorothy Taylor and Easter Warren. She also leaves many Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, In-Laws, Special Friends and Church Family from Lilydale and Morning Star.
