Antonio Allen

Antonio Allen was born on January 7, 1989 and raised in Kankakee IL by his mother, Naomi Allen and dad, Charles Corbett III. He was the oldest of his siblings, having two brothers, Craig Nelson and Cordell Allen, and two sisters, La’Carlynn Corbett and Evelynn Anthony. He attended Kankakee High School where he flourished on the basketball team even being able to start as a center on the varsity squad while only being a sophomore giving him the name, “The Big Ticket.” He graduated with honors in 2007 and enrolled for the army. He spent a year in the army with his base being in Ft. Knox, KY. He decided to leave the army to pursue his first love which was basketball. He attended Job Corps in Georgia, which led him to becoming a student at first BJCC and transferring to Albany Tech in 2011 where he flourished on the basketball court. Antonio loved and was loved by his family, friends and community. He was a member of a local group called “Y.B.T.” which stands for Young, Black and Talented. This group put together coat drives in the winter, back to school donations and fundraisers for families in the community that may have needed assistance. He chose to speak about things that affected him and his community through music, as a member of the group, “Maroon Misfits.” He spoke of dreams of empowering the youth to become leaders and entrepreneurs. Encouraging them to find things to channel their anger, or sorrow through the arts or sports. He participated in and won the 2018 Tyjuan Hagler tournaments with his basketball team Supreme Clientele. Antonio was about love, light, healing, spreading laughter and showing that no matter where you come from you should always try to be the best you can be. He was 31 and full of life. He was a great big brother, cousin and friend to so many people whose path he came across. He was awaiting the arrival of his first born child with his girlfriend, Anna Thompson in the beginning of 2021. He will be missed dearly. He departed this life for Glory on December 6, 2020. Antonio leaves to cherish his memory, his loving parents, Naomi Allen and Charles Corbett III of Kankakee, IL; his brothers, Cordell Allen of Kankakee, IL and Craig Nelson Jr. of Atlanta, GA; sisters, Evelynn Anthony of Nashville, Texas and LaCarlynn Corbett of Kankakee, IL; aunts, Diane Smith, Linda Allen, Minnie Allen and Emma Allen, all of Kankakee, IL and Darlene Phillips of Las Vegas, NV; uncles, Joseph Allen Jr. of Indianapolis, IN, Richard Allen of Peoria, IL, David Allen of Olathe, KS and James Allen of Kankakee, IL; his grandmother, Elmarine Corbett of Kankakee, IL, as well as a host of family, friends, cousins, and special friends, Anna Thompson and the Tate family and best friend, Corrine Nicole Jackson. Preceding him in death were grandparents, Joseph and Lottie Mae Allen; aunts, Margaret Allen and Mildred Allen; niece, Ky’la Allen and cousin, Michael Howard.
