Angelisa Ã¢â‚¬Å"AngeÃ¢â‚¬Â Mary Boykin, 76, of Kankakee, IL, died peacefully on December 31, 2016 at home. A gathering of family and friends will begin at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, January 7, 2017 followed by the Memorial service at 11:00 A.M. at Lax Mortuary. Reverend Thomas Ervin will officiate. Cremation rites will be accorded. Angelisa Ã¢â‚¬Å"AngeÃ¢â‚¬Â Mary Boykin was born on December 16, 1940 at home in Kankakee Illinois, the oldest of four children born to Jobie Nelson II and Mary Helen Muskus Nelson. She was raised and educated in Kankakee and graduated from Kankakee High School in 1958. She received an AssociateÃ¢â‚¬â„¢s Degree in Liberal Studies from Kankakee Community College in 1979 and a BachelorÃ¢â‚¬â„¢s Degree in Criminal Justice from Olivet Nazarene College in 1981. At an early age, Ange was baptized at St. Rose of Lima and later became a member of Morning Star MB Church, where she served as a member of the Mission Ministry. She was employed as a Probation Officer for Kankakee County and retired after 20 years of service. Prior to this, she had worked at Shapiro Developmental Center and at Kankakee School District 111. She also served as a Board Member for the school district. On March 10, 1962 she wed Hubert Euell and two beautiful children, Bryan and Brenda were born to this union. Later she united with Labron Ã¢â‚¬Å"LBÃ¢â‚¬Â Boykin on July 28, 1973 and two beautiful children, Michael and Marilyn, were born to this union. Ange was a resident of the area for 76 years and was very active in her community. She was a strong woman and was loved by all. She was a 26 year cancer survivor. She enjoyed traveling, spending time with family, and playing bingo and casino games. On December 31, 2016, Angelisa Ã¢â‚¬Å"AngeÃ¢â‚¬Â Boykin finally lost her long battle and departed this life at home, surrounded by family. She leaves to treasure and cherish her life: two sons, Bryan Euell of Kankakee, IL and Mark Boykin of Joliet, IL; two daughters, Brenda Euell of Kankakee, IL and Marilyn Boykin of Columbus, OH; two sisters, Mary Ann Gaddy and Rosemary Nelson, both of Kankakee, IL; sister-in-law, Mattie McDowell of Phoenix, AZ; grandchildren, Marquise Boykin and Maxwell Stewart of Columbus, OH, Mark Jr. and Madison Boykin of Joliet, IL; special daughter and granddaughter, DeMesha Lewis and Kadijah Corbitt, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jobie II and Mary Muskus Nelson; husband, Labron Boykin; son, Michael Euell; brother, Jobie Nelson III; brother-in-law, Elvie McDowell; in-laws, Lester and Maudie Boykin; granddaughter, Sierra Boykin and aunts and uncles.
